Mark your calendar! The 2010 Calgary International Children's Festival, presented by Qualico Communities, runs May 25 - 29 at the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts. With performances from Belgium, Scotland, Brazil, West Africa, the USA and Canada, it is guaranteed to be a memorable week with something for everyone! Horta Van Hoye stands alone on an empty stage lit by a single lamp. Unfurling a length of newsprint, she uses rubber bands and clothespins to pinch, tweak and crumple it. Suddenly, she is no longer alone! The stage is transformed and rolls of recycled paper become three-dimensional characters which quickly assume vibrant lives of their own. More info.
